Classes

 We’d like to think of our Store as an Information Center.

 We understand that without constant training and upgrading, we can't keep ahead of our customers! 

 We appreciate that everyone wants to learn the ‘latest’ techniques,

 so we try to keep one step ahead!

 

 

STAINED GLASS CLASSES 

Beginners: (copper foil technique)

This class covers all the basics of stained glass (cutting, grinding, foiling, soldering…).  You make two projects to take home.      12 hrs.  No experience necessary.

Boxes:

Students will design, cut and assemble their own box. Learn the secrets to working with hinges, metal feet and chain.     4 hours.    Intermediate -stained glass experience nec. 

Picture Frames:

Here students will learn how to draft up different styles of picture frames.  You will leave class with a completed frame.  4 hrs.  Intermediate—must know how to do Stained Glass

                              

Decorative Soldering I :

Here you will learn the secrets to working with “Ultimate” solder to make your solder   joints beautiful and unique (not to mention purposely bumpy!).  4 Hrs Intermediate.

Decorative Soldering II:

In this class students will continue with the techniques taught in Part 1 to make a   beautiful kaleidoscope.      4 hrs.     Pre-requisite: Decorative Soldering Part I

Sculptures & Silhouettes:

This unique class incorporates ‘sculpted’ copper foil sheets with a decorative panel. Lots of homework!          6 hrs    Intermediate!                                                  

Lamps:

Here the student will learn about lamp designing, glass selection, cutting and assembling a one-slope lamp.  Student will complete a lamp.  6-7 hrs.  Intermediate.

 

Stained Glass Wind Chimes:

Make a cute stained glass 3-D Wind chime with leaves, birds, etc. Can be just left as a mobile for ‘quiet’ enjoyment! Uses up your scraps!     3 hrs     Intermediate.

Morton Workshop: Free with Purchase or $20/hr without purchase (+tax). 

After you’ve purchased your Morton Portable Glass Shop we’ll help you learn all the tricks to it!    1+ hrs.  No experience necessary.     

Lead Wrapped Night Lights:

Learn the secrets of working with “hobby” lead came.  Students will make their own beautiful nightlight.  3 hrs.  Intermediate.

 

        

Stepping Stones:

Here you will learn the basics of making a concrete stepping stone.  Students will pour their own stones to take home.      2 hrs.     No experience necessary.

Mosaics:

Learn the basics of working with mosaics, including glass selection, gluing, & grouting.  You’ll be working on your own project.   4 hrs.     No experience necessary.

             

Mosaic Windows:

In this new mosaic class students will make their own beautiful scenic window. Working with a photo, students will learn how to interpret it on glass.  Various glass-forming techniques will be discussed.      8+ hrs.  Intermediate.

Mosaic Lantern:

A variation on mosaics is a lantern for a candle (or wired). We’ll make 4 ‘mosaiced’ panels and solder them together into a lantern.   6  hrs    Soldering exp. preferred. 

Japanese-Style Table Lanterns:

Here you will assemble and wire a beautiful table lantern. Homework required!                 3 hrs. Intermediate.

                        

                                                 

Water Fountains:

This is an introduction to making beautiful water fountains.  Techniques can be applied to more complicated patterns.    5 hrs.  Advanced!

Leading:

Learn the basics of the time honoured technique of lead came. Students will cut, assemble, and putty a suggested small panel.  

6 hrs. Intermediate-stained glass experience necessary.

 

                                                                                                             

WARM GLASS CLASSES 

Beginner Fusing and Slumping:

Come in and learn the basics of Warm Glass. This class covers all the technical aspects of fusing as well as kiln preparation and programming.  The student will make up to 3 projects covering the 3 basic ‘temperatures’ of fused glass.           

6 hrs.  Beginner

Funky Wind Chimes:

A great place to start if you’re just into Playtime! Easy to cut & almost no waste!        5 hrs.  Basic cutting skills helpful but not necessary.

 

                

Fused Bowls:

Come in and learn to make your own dinnerware! You’ll learn how to cut perfect circles and design your own “food safe” dishware!  Options: Sepia slide & Sugar-fire.                                 3 hrs     No experience necessary!

Japanese Vases:

Inspired by Japanese flower arranging, ‘Ikebana’ is great way to use up fusible odds ‘n ends. We’ll layer and fuse a base that’s approx. 8” sq. Glued under this is a water holder and a small ‘pin frog’.      2 hrs        No experience necessary!

Funky Fused Clocks: 

Come in and make a one-of-a-kind clock. Techniques cover making your own pendulum!                   4hrs   Only basic cutting skills required.

   

Fused Cabochons:

Make your own gorgeous jewellery using several different fusing techniques.                                             2 hrs.     Basic cutting skills helpful but not necessary.

Mood Lamps:

Make a complete curved lamp the easy way! We’ll cover glass drilling and lamp wiring as                     well as the basic fusing techniques.    5 hrs   Cutting experience helpful!

             

Fused Flowers:

Two realistic looking flowers are made in this unique class. In the first class, students will cut and decorate their flowers.  We will fuse and slump them on the appropriate mould. The flowers will be drilled, wrapped and glued at the second class.

Enamelling:

 

Learn the basics of copper working and enamelling to make a unique bracelet!

6 hrs   No experience necessary!
